A-Level Chemistry Tutors

A-Level Chemistry is a significant step up from GCSE. Topics that were once taught separately start to depend on each other. Questions increasingly ask students to combine ideas from across the course in unfamiliar contexts.

Our tutors identify what is limiting the student's performance and address it systematically. This might be bonding and energetics, organic mechanisms and synthesis routes, transition metal chemistry, or the precision examiners expect in extended answers.

Students then work through progressively more demanding problems and board-specific questions, developing the accuracy needed to perform consistently across all papers.

Students following AQA, OCR or Pearson Edexcel complete a set of required or core practicals during the course. Written papers then test their understanding of methods, results and uncertainty, while the practical endorsement is reported separately from the grade.

Mathematical skills also carry real weight, from moles calculations and equilibrium constants to rate equations, logarithms and graph analysis. Students who understand the chemistry can still lose marks on the calculations.

Tutors can support practical understanding and calculation work throughout the course, as well as Cambridge International practical papers where relevant.

Every placement begins by understanding the student's specification, current performance, target grade and university ambitions. Recent mock papers, schoolwork and teacher feedback help establish where tuition will have the greatest impact.

Chemistry is usually required for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science, and for many Natural Sciences courses. For these applicants, tuition can sit alongside preparation for admissions tests such as the UCAT and the ESAT, as part of a wider admissions plan.
